Thomas Blair & Margaret ________
Thomas Blair & Margaret Hussey
Conventional Research
It is believed by many that Thomas Blair (m. Margaret Hussey) is a descendant of Thomas Blair and Margaret _____ .
It is my understanding that this connection is very speculative at best and that there is no hard evidence to prove this connection.
Two participants #5502 and #8466) trace their ancestry back to Thomas Blair and Margaret _____ through son James Blair and Jean.
A third participant, #13050, traces his line back to Thomas Blair and Margaret Hussey.
DNA Testing
Participants #5502 and #8466 match 25 for 25 on their DNA test results. Participant #13050 mismatches #5502
on 9 of 25 markers, and mismatches #8466 on 16 of 37 markers.
The actual marker values for each participant are shown in the table below.

The diagram below show the pedigrees of the two participants based on conventional research.
Conclusions
DNA test results support the conventional research that #5502 and #8466 share the common ancestor James Blair.
The results also clearly indicate that participant #13050 and the other two participants cannot share the common
ancestor Thomas Blair. Although it is impossible to draw a firm conclusion based on the test results of only one descendant
of Thomas Blair and Margaret Hussey, the results, coupled with the speculative paper trail, do add support to the
premise that Thomas who married Margaret Hussey is not a descendant of Thomas Blair and Margaret _____.
The DNA test results (on their own) indicate a couple of possible scenarios.
1. James and Thomas (who married Marageret Hussey) ARE both sons of Thomas Blair and Margaret _____, but #13050
does NOT descend from Thomas Blair and Margaret Hussey. To test this scenario we would need another participant who
descends from Thomas and Margaret Hussey, preferable through a son other than William.
2. James and Thomas (who married Marageret Hussey) are NOT both sons of Thomas and Margaret _____. To determine
which of the two is actually Thomas' son we will need to test someone who descends from Thomas and Margaret _____
through one of his other sons (William or John).
