James Blair & Mary Thompson

Conventional Research
James Blair is �believed� to have been born in Ireland. The first record found for him was his marriage in 1782 in Orange Co. NC.The bondsmen on for this marriage were James Blair and Samuel Woody. In 1808 James purchased 160 acres of land in Washington Co. IN and listed his place of residence as Clark Co. IN. In 1817 he sold his land in Washington Co. and purchased land in Lawrence Co. IN. He died in Bedford, Lawrence Co. He did not leave a will nor has a probate record been found for him to date. His widow went to the Edgar or Coles Co. IL area to live with or near several of her children.

DNA Testing
Two participants (#22217 and #81733) believe they descend from James Blair and Mary Thompson.  They both descend through James' son John, who married Jane Holmes.

Both participants have tested at 37 markers and match on only 21 of 37 markers.

Conclusions
There is NO WAY these two participants can both descend from James Blair and Mary Thompson. There is also no way to know which of the two does descend from James. Further testing of other descendants is required.
